What is this event like?

This is the faire that began it all. For most of us, “Southern” was our first exposure to re-enactment and interactive theatre. Still one of the biggest and one of the best, this grand old dame has gone through many phases in her long life. Currently, the faire is owned by Renaissance Entertainment Productions. St. Ives continues to inhabit the very front end of the faire, where we greet the incoming customers and begin their immersion into an English Renaissance village and festival experience. This is a very time-intensive event for us, spanning over two months of weekends as we build the town, inhabit it, and tear it down… and as we agree every year, totally worth it.

“Begun in 1963 in Agoura, near Malibu, to create “living history” for schoolchildren and their families, the Renaissance Pleasure Faire has grown into an annual interactive playground and gallery for over 200,000 participants and guests. It has given birth to an industry nationwide and this year is more fun and exciting than ever. Since its inception, more than 5 million people from around the world have visited Southern California’s Renaissance Pleasure Faire, averaging approximately 20,000 each weekend.”
